At West Point, the content of mathemaics courses is very special - as are the students. In 2002 when Wattenberg first submitted
Deposit #7 to the NCB he included instructions for writing "Lite Applets" to create interactive web sites.  To update his course now16 years later he writes, " I've been doing a lot recently but have been using client-side Javascript and server-side php rather than Java."

In 2002, Dr. Wattenberg first considered an inner active function

Students investigated moving arrows and marked points using Applets.

By only changing "a" in this graph,the derivative retains a value of ( 0, 0 ). This is another way of saying that changes in "a" do not move the derivative from the origin.
